Grass Stains, Letting Go and Turning 4

Yup, that pretty much sums up the past month.

We've had a few mice days this month, in between the rain and the cold, and that ONE day that it snowed. So of course i took the kids outside when i could to get the stink blown off and work off some of that amazing energy that they all seem to have.

I decided the one day that i'd rake up some leaves for them to jump in. All the leaves are outside of the fenced in area of our yard, so i had to go over towards the hill, rake them up, put them in the little plastic pool, and carry it to the yard and dump it inside the fence...And on my first trip over to rake, this is what i found...

The kids thought it was the coolest! It took me about 20 minutes to kill the damn thing. It was like super Mario with all those lives, it just wouldnt die.

We were so busy this year, and the weather never really cooperated enough for us to get to the pumpkin patch...but playing in the leaves was just enough fall activity to make them happy ;O)

In those few short days, i realized that my babies arent "babies" anymore.

When is it that we parents finally feel comfortable enough to let go?

All summer long i stood behind that slide, lifting up each baby onto the slide, then holding their hand on the way down. All summer long they tried to climb up themselves, but i just wasnt ready. I didnt think THEY were ready.

All summer long we had the play yard stretched out along the length of the deck so that they wouldnt fall down the steps...I had constantly feared broken bones, but the only thing proven to be broken was my heart. They're growing up so fast. No broken bones, just a few grass stains.

I'm going to have to change the subtitle of this blog. It's no longer true. Cammie is 4. How did that happen? I just brought that tiny, perfect, sweet smelling baby home from the hospital...

She had a Spongebob themed party...

The Cake...

The Fashion wear...

And being able to hang Spongebob and beat him with a stick, which has always been a dream of mine deep down.

Those kids beat the crap out of him for what seemed like days. I'm pretty sure the thing was made of bricks because they didnt even put a dent in it. So when the "special pinata stick" didnt work...

They used a hockey stick.

And because we all had to go to bed sometime that night, Carl beat the thing with the hockey stick, forever, then had to rip it open to get the candy out...

Tonight we went trick or treating. I'm just going to say, that i was, and still am, completely amazed. No one cried, or fussed, or screamed. We laughed, and laughed, and had so much fun. And we left the strollers in the van. But right now i'm tired, so i'll post those pics tomorrow :O)

Carl. You look awfuly brave holding the pinata. Last time I saw a kid and a stick someone lost a tooth... brave man...

And I again agree with you. Letting go is impossible, Bagel is a bit over 3 and it is insane to wrap my mind around how fast it went by. All I can do is hope that Weaky (18 months) will stay little just a bit longer!!
